Andy Murray retiring
Either next week when he gets knocked out in the first round of the Australian Open or at this year’s Wimbledon.

One of Britain’s greatest ever sportsmen.

Turned himself into a winner in an era of some of the greatest players in tennis history.

Hip injury has fucked him. No coming back from that now at his age. If he got a hip replacement it would take almost a year of recovery and training. He's done his shift. And a good shift it was. Take a bow, Andy.

Achieved a lot in his career and can be proud. Shame if he can't play another Wimbledon.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Just seen the press conference, felt gutted for him, obviously found it hard to go out there and say what he had to say.

One of the all time British sporting icons, and legends

Re: Andy Murray retiring
True British sporting great, who should be incredibly proud of his achievements, in one of the games toughest eras.

Shame he couldn’t retire on his terms.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
The best ever British tennis player by a country mile. A real shame what has happened to him when you see Federer still looking top drawer at 36. Wish him well.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
He is doing the right thing by retiring, no point in carrying on if in constant pain.

We won’t see his like again in our lifetime that’s for sure.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Is never going to be the same with that hip problem but hopefully he can make it to Wimbledon for a proper farewell

Think he has been taken for granted for a while which will become clear once British tennis reverts to everyone out in the first round.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Top player
Nice guy
Won 2 Wimbledons and a us open
2 Olympic golds too

Won't be done by a Brit again for ages

Physically now shot. And worse still, mentally broken too it seems.

Still, can retire very proud of himself. And loaded.

More than any naysayers on here will ever achieve.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Fucking brilliant player. Probably won’t see another Brit even close to that calibre in our lifetime. Watching him win Wimbledon for the first time was one of the best sporting moments I’ll ever witness.

Gutted for him. Especially as there’s no doubt he could have won more if not for this injury and he’s not going out in the way he wants. Proper British sporting legend though.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
master, and a Davis Cup, Masters and World no. 1 ranking. All in an era with 3 of the best players ever.

A career to be proud of for sure.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Life's a bitch. Then you marry one. Then you die.

Still, probably won't have to join a 6 month queue to get that hip replaced, so, silver linings and all that.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Good luck fella. Great career.

Probably only disliked because of his unBritish like competitiveness and will to win.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
Sky Sports are doing a poll on who is currently Britain’s greatest sportsman and number 1 is Lewis Hamilton 😂😂😂😂😂

Some people are utter mongs, he steers a car around a track hardly the same as what Murray does.

Re: Andy Murray retiring
just shows it's very difficult in the modern era to play in in to your thirties if you're not drugged up, good luck to him, he's been a great champion in one of the best eras
